Postgraduate study isn’t on everyone’s radar and you might be wondering: why should you do it? Here are a few of the reasons why postgraduate study can be a big advantage.
Postgraduate studies help you progress your career or explore a new one. You will learn specialist knowledge, industry best practice and transferable skills like project management, teamwork, advanced research skills, and leadership. This can give you an advantage over the other voices clamouring to be heard in the crowded job market. In fact, according to the 2019 QILT Graduate Outcome Survey, postgraduate coursework graduates labour force participation rate was 96.3 per cent.
All our postgraduate courses are closely linked to industry. Many include professional placements, the perfect way to gain valuable insights, expand your professional network and open yourself up to new opportunities for employment, business, research and collaboration. Explore international study opportunities
Postgraduate degrees can come with international adventures. ACU has relationships with more than 200 universities and educational institutions in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. These relationships support a range of education abroad, staff mobility, collaborative research, and shared community engagement activities. Many of our postgraduate courses take advantage of those relationships to offer international study tours. For example, the Masters of Theological Studies offers a four-week study tour to religious sites in Israel, Jordan, and Palestine.
Postgraduate study is an opportunity to take your passion to the next level and build on your foundation knowledge and experience. You can become a specialist in your field, start pursuing academia and research, or in some circumstances, gain the qualifications needed for formal practice (such as psychology).
Scholarships aren’t just for undergraduates. Universities offer many scholarships across postgraduate degrees, and there are also scholarships available externally. It always pays to explore these opportunities – you never know what you might be eligible for and they can be a real financial help.
