Your Year 12 exams are coming up, you’re thinking about university courses and putting uni open days in your calendar, and you’re on the cusp of a bold new adventure – tertiary study.
To keep you excited about your next steps, here’s what you need to know about studying at ACU.
Student wellbeing is our biggest priority at ACU, and we know the support of a caring community will help you achieve your best. We offer the support you need to thrive during, and after, your studies.
Whether it’s Indigenous Higher Education Units, our program for elite athletes and performers, our first-year student mentoring or our supports for students with disability, health conditions, neurodiversity or significant carer responsibilities, we’re inclusive and supportive of everyone, every day. And our students feel it – ranking us among the top five Australian universities for the quality of the entire educational experience.*
Plus, we’ve designed your first year specifically to make sure you transition successfully to university studies, help you build confidence and support your long-term success.

Our vibrant campus communities are places where you can make friends for life.
At your campus orientation, you’ll get a feel for uni life, meet other students, join your campus association, clubs and societies, and make some friends. Once you’re settled, weekly on-campus and online activities will help you stay connected, supported and inspired outside of the classroom.
Some universities have one campus for their entire student body, but not ACU. Each of our six campuses in Australia is home to anywhere from roughly 1,000 students in Canberra to about 10,000 in Melbourne, which means you won’t just be a number – you will be known by other students and staff.
Big universities certainly have their place, but many of our students chose ACU for its smaller, friendly campuses.
An ACU education builds on the Catholic understanding of faith and reason working together in pursuit of knowledge and promotion of human dignity and the common good. It seeks to transform lives and communities. We’ll challenge you to look beyond the classroom, solve real-world problems, develop your own search for meaning and cultivate strong professional ethics.
But while ACU is a Catholic university, you don’t need to be Catholic to study with us. Our mission and values are relevant to everyone, so whether you have a particular faith or none, you’re welcome here.
5. Scholarships come in all shapes and sizes
Balancing the cost of living and study can be tricky, but your financial position shouldn’t stop you achieving your goals. We offer around 1,000 scholarships across a wide range of categories to help support current and future students, from a range of backgrounds, to study at ACU.
Our scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $60,000 and fall into two categories:
We also offer scholarships to help with the cost of your student accommodation.
And if you don’t think applying is worth the effort, think again. Every year we award hundreds of scholarships, but some scholarships remain unawarded. It’s worth applying for all the scholarships you are eligible for – some students have received more than one.
