Your path to success may be helping others find theirs

“Every Wednesday afternoon I head to an inner-city public housing estate, where more than 90 children are waiting for me. They are kids of refugee background from South Sudan, Vietnam, Somalia, and Ethiopia. This is Homework Club, where ACU students are tutors, and friends. 

Adjusting to a new culture can be hard, and doing homework even harder. Some kids don’t have parents who speak enough English to help. Others don’t have the space at home or time to themselves to study. The children love Homework Club. For these kids, homework isn’t a chore, it’s an opportunity.

It also puts a lot into perspective for me. No matter how busy or exhausting the session, I always leave with more energy than when I arrived. This opportunity helps me make a difference in society.”
