A future delivering many futures

“I grew up in Alice Springs. Raised by strong women, who pushed me to succeed. In Year 12, I scored the highest mark of all Indigenous students in the Northern Territory. I started a midwifery degree in Adelaide, but six months later, homesick, I dropped out.

I tried again, this time in Melbourne. And eight years later, I graduated. Now I work at Alice Springs Hospital, where I’m the only Aboriginal midwife. I also travel to remote communities to help women give birth safely. 

I don’t feel like I’m doing anything special and I’m certainly not setting out to over-achieve – I’m just doing what I do, helping the people and communities I care about.”
